Public Comment Invited on Plaza Tree Replacement
The public is invited to weigh in on the Tree Commissionís recommendation for what should be planted to replace the red sunset maple tree that has died on Ashlandís downtown plaza. The Tree Commission will meet on Thursday, October 9th
at 6 p.m. in the Siskiyou Room of the Community Development Building at 51 Winburn Way.
At its August meeting, the Tree Commission unanimously voted to recommend that the replacement tree be a Bur Oak or Red Oak, preferably four-to-six inch diameter base height. The Commission now seeks public input on that recommendation, which it can change, modify or reaffirm before sending it on to the City Council. The Council will consider the Tree Commissionís recommendation at its October 21st
meeting, and the public will have another opportunity to weigh in at that time. The City plans to remove the dead maple tree and plant a new tree in its place this fall.
Written comments to the Tree Commission can be submitted to Associate Planner Michael Pina at 51 Winburn Way, or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org
