Fire Hydrant Flushing between Iowa and S. Mountain
On Thursday, September 18, 2014, City of Ashland Water Department in conjunction with Ashland Fire and Rescue will be conducting a fire hydrant flow test near Iowa & S. Mountain Streets. The test is scheduled to begin at 5:00 AM. The purpose of the release is to measure the speed and the volume of water for each hydrant. This information is critical for the Fire Department should they need to connect to the hydrant.
During the test, nearby households may see a change in water color. The discoloration is caused by the disturbance of small mineral deposits that can build up over time in the city water distribution system. The mineral deposits are harmless and the color usually clears within a few moments of running the tap.
If the tap water does not clear, or for more information, please call the Water Department at (541) 488-5353.
