Re: Shots Fired Call
APD Case #14-1952
August 3, 2014
On August 3, 2014 at approximately 9:37 a.m., Ashland Police Officers were dispatched to the area of Quincy Street between Wightman and California, for a report of gun shots fired in the area. The investigation revealed that several rounds were fired from a handgun into the air from a vehicle in the area. Multiple witnesses indicated that the rounds were not directed at anyone or any structure, but were fired into the air. APD would like to remind everyone that this is still a very dangerous practice, and that firing into the air can cause serious physical injury or death. Recklessly firing into the air is also a criminal act. In this case officers thoroughly checked the area and were unable to find any damaged property or injured people.
The suspect vehicle is described as a smaller light colored (possibly primer gray) sedan in poor condition with a loud exhaust, occupied by 2-3 white males.
The investigation into this incident will continue. Anyone with information on this incident that has not been contacted by the police is encouraged to call the Ashland Police at 541-482-5211.
