On Thursday, July 10, 2014, the City of Ashland Water Department in conjunction with Ashland Fire and Rescue will be conducting fire hydrant flow tests at three locations:
- Tolman Creek Road and Ashland Street
- 700 Oak Street
- Tucker and Prim Streets
The tests are scheduled between 5:00 AM and 7:00 AM
. The purpose of the releases is to measure the speed and the volume of water for each of the hydrants. This information is critical for the Fire Department should they need to connect to the hydrants.
During the tests, nearby households may see a change in water color. The discoloration is caused by the disturbance of small mineral deposits that can build up over time in the city water distribution system. The mineral deposits are harmless and the color usually clears within a few moments of running the tap.
If the tap water does not clear, or for more information, please call the Water Department at (541) 488-5353.
