Fire Hydrant Flushing on Fernwood Drive And Roca Street
Tuesday, May 13, 2014 Ashland Fire and Rescue and the Ashland Water Department will be conducting fire hydrant flow tests near 350 Fernwood Drive and 595 Roca Street. Tests are scheduled from 7:00am to 9:00am. The purpose of the release is to measure the speed and the volume of water for each hydrant. This information is critical for the Fire Department should they need to connect to the hydrant.
During the tests, nearby users may see a change in water color. The discoloration is caused by the disturbance of small mineral deposits that can build up over time in the city water distribution system. The mineral deposits are harmless and the color usually clears within a few moments of running the tap.
If the tap water does not clear, or for more information, please call the City of Ashland Water Department at 541-488-5353.
