Two juveniles who reside and attend school in Eagle Point were reported missing by one of the juvenileís grandmotherís they had been visiting who resides in the 800 block of Elkader St in Ashland on April 10, 2014. The two juveniles were sending text and twitter messages saying goodbye to friends and family leading people to think that they were about to commit suicide. They told others that they were hiking into the forest in the White Rabbit Trail just southwest from the junction of South Mountain and Ivy Streets.
Ashland Officers went to the area of S Mountain and Ivy St and walked into the forest but did not locate the juveniles. Jackson County Search and Rescue (SAR) were contacted, and a SAR team responded to the grandmotherís residence in the 800 block of Elkader St. Calls were also made to the parents and guardians.
After an extensive all night search the two juveniles were located around 7:40 am on 4/11/14 in the forest above Elkader Street outside the city limits of Ashland. The two juveniles were transported to Rogue Regional Medical Center. Preliminary reports indicate that one juvenile is in critical condition and the second juvenile is listed in stable condition.
