APD PRESS RELEASE Armed Robbery Of Astro Gas Station Case 14-304, 02-08-14

ASHLAND POLICE DEPARTMENT

Armed Robbery of Astro Gas Station
Suspect: Hispanic male adult, late 30ís to early 40ís, mustache, with a slight goatee or beard, wearing a black beanie style hat, a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans.
On February 8, 2014 at approximately 8:25 p.m. officers were dispatched to the Atro Gas Station at 449 E. Main Street for a report of an armed robbery. The clerk at the gas station reported that she was approached by a man (described above) who stated that he wanted to buy cigarettes. The suspect then stated that he was there to rob the gas station, and touched a handgun that he had tucked into his waist band.
The clerk complied with the suspectís demand and turned money over to the suspect. We are not releasing the amount of money stolen at this time. The suspect fled on foot, northbound across Lithia Way.
Officers from several agencies responded to assist with the attempts to locate the suspect, including a K9 team from the Medford Police.
Several pieces of evidence, including images the gas stations security cameras, were collected and will be analyzed in an attempt to identify the suspect.
