New Restroom in Lithia Park

Check out the new restroom in upper Lithia Park! This restroom went “live” on January 22, 2014, replacing an older building. Attached to the new single-seater facility is a telemetry station for the City of Ashland Water Department. Telemetry is used to gather information on water quality for daily reporting to the State of Oregon Health Authority. If results are acceptable, the water is included into the public water supply.

This site was identified by the State of Oregon as a “first user” site, meaning water from the City plant gets to the telemetry site before anywhere else in the City. This is one of the City’s registered sample sites. Water quality information streams off the equipment constantly and then is directed to the City of Ashland water plant. This informs plant operators about pH and chlorine residual levels. The constant stream of information is used to pilot the plant, allowing for corrections and adjustments that comply with federal water quality regulations.
