The Ashland City Council study sessions will be streamed live on the Internet beginning Monday, November 5, 2012 at 5:30 p.m.
Viewers can watch the study session at http://www.ustream.tv/channel/city-of-ashland-oregon.
“These will be bare bones webcasts using a single camera and single microphone,” says City Administrator Dave Kanner, “and will provide online viewers with a bird’s eye view of the meetings.”
The City Council has discussed streaming study sessions for a number of months and considered a number of options. Ultimately they opted to keep the study sessions in the Siskiyou Room and to webcast the meetings. In September, the Council directed staff to move forward with the necessary steps to live stream the meetings. The live meetings will only be available online, not on television. The archived videos of the meetings will be available for on demand viewing on the city’s website at www.ashland.or.us/citycouncilmeetings
After considerable research the City chose to subscribe to Ustream, a website that provides a platform for live video streaming and archive of videos at a cost of $90 per month.
