Ashland Fire Station 2 Project Begins
Construction of Ashland Fire Station 2 will begin with demolition on Monday, May 7 at 10:30 a.m. The citizens of Ashland passed a bond to rebuild Fire Station 2 in May 2011. The 2,388 square foot fire station built in 1965 will be torn down, marking the start of the project.
Ausland Group, with offices in Medford and Grants Pass, was awarded the construction contract after a public bid process. Ausland plans to re-use or recycle more than 90% of the demolished building materials, which will find a new life on other construction projects in the valley. Updates and pictures of the project will be made available to the public periodically on the web at http://www.facebook.com/AuslandGroup.
The media is invited to the official Ground Breaking Ceremony for the new Fire Station 2 on Monday, May 14 at 11:00 a.m. The new station will be 10,478 square feet with 3 engine bays and will cost $3 million.
Established in 1887, Ashland Fire & Rescue provides twenty-four-hour service and responds to over 3,500 calls each year in an area that exceeds 650 square miles.
