Confined Space Rescue Training at Ashland Fire & Rescue

Ashland Fire & Rescue is hosting confined space entry and rescue training this week, which will culminate with practical field exercises on Thursday and Friday.  The 40-hour class is being taught by CMC Rescue, an international trainer, which teaches onsite and uses the training props and actual scenarios available in the community.  Ashland Fire & Rescue has been granted two seats in the class for hosting the training. Class participants have traveled from California, Nevada, New York and Washington and include firefighters and public works employees.

Some of the topics covered for first responders includes keeping themselves safe, planning for a rescue, atmospheric monitoring, and packaging and removing a patient.  The first two-and-a-half days consisted of primarily classroom training.  The final days of the class will utilize a training prop and scenarios of actual confined space entry situations found throughout the city of Ashland.
Established in 1887, Ashland Fire & Rescue provides twenty-four-hour service and responds to over 3,500 calls each year in an area that exceeds 650 square miles.
