David Chapman City Councilor
David Chapman was appointed to the City Council in June 2005 to replace Chris Hearn. His current term expires on December 31, 2014.
David and his wife Susan have lived in Ashland since 2000. He has had an unusual career split between theatrical arts and computer research and is now exploring home improvement and green building.
His interest in valley transportation issues led to appointments on the Bicycle and Pedestrian Commission, the Traffic Safety Commission and as an Ashland representative on Metropolitan Planning Organization's Public Advisory Council. He is an advocate for improved public transportation.
He was on the first board of the Ashland Woodlands and Trails Association and is a Sierra Club hike leader. He has been participating in the creation of the city's Master Trail Plan.
His hobbies are tai chi, music and photography.
David serves as liaison to the Transportation Commission, Ashland Woodlands and Trails Association, Bear Creek Greenway Committee and is a member of the Citizens’ Budget Commission.
