Councilor Russ Silbiger moved to Ashland in 1991. He grew up in New Jersey and moved to the San Francisco Bay Area when he was 18. Russ graduated from Sonoma State University in 1982 with a degree in Business Management and a minor in Economics. He has had a career in the restaurant business, computer technology and as an equity investment manager.

Russ has been very active in the community, serving on the Citizens' Budget Committee, the Ashland Fiber Network Programming Committee and the Ashland Fiber Network Advisory Committee. He has also served on the Board of Directors of Community Works. For nine years Russ wrote the "In My Opinion" column in the Sneak Preview, a monthly newspaper in Ashland.

Russ is currently the council liaison for the Airport Commission, the Rogue Valley Council of Governments, and is also a member of the Citizens' Budget Committee. Russ can be contacted at 482-6907or by e-mail below

Russ was first elected in November 2004 and was elected to his second term in November 2008 which will end December 31, 2012.
