ASHLAND CONSERVATION COMMISSION

MINUTES

6-8 p.m. – January 26, 2011

Community Development Building

 

 

CALL TO ORDER

Chairperson McGinnis called the meeting to order at 6:00pm.

Attendees:

Thomas Beam, Sheri Cellini, Stuart Corns, Jim Hartman Ross Finney, Shelley Lotz, Jim McGinnis and David Runkel were present.  Risa Buck, Ross Finney were not present.

 

City Council Liaison: Carol Voisin not present.

Staff Representative: Larry Giardina

 

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Chairperson McGinnis asked for approval of the minutes for December 30, 2010.

 

Motion to approve the minutes as stated.

 

PUBLIC FORUM

No speakers.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

The next Commission meeting will be February 23, 2011.

 

NEW BUSINESS

  1. Recommendation for Council Meeting
  2. Report on AWACK
  3. Discussion about Nov-Dec meeting

 

Commissioner Cellini Motion to have 12 meeting per year, possibly scheduling zero meetings in December and two in January.

 

Shelly Lotz, seconded by Sheri Motion to give monetary award in the amount of $100.00 gift certificates to be used at any Green Business in the Ashland Green Business Program. Chamber of commerce

 

Commission Beam, made a motion to pass the award guidelines that Commissioner Runkel presented and emailed other members. Seconded by Commissioner Runkel.  Motion passed

 

Motion to give future award winners of the Commission’s Conservation Award Program a monetary award.

 

 

Under award issues/guidelines: Please specify/add the following:

 

1. Residency: The nominees must have a 97520 zip code. Businesses must have a business in Ashland.

2. Also No immediate families of ACC members will be eligible.

4. The final three in each category will be narrowed down by the current subcommittee (David, Shelley, Sheri) and

     brought to the ACC to vote on the finalists in March.

 

Discussion about the budget process, Commissioner Runkel and Beam would come up with some guidelines

 

OLD BUSINESS

  1. Conservation Award Program
