GROWTH AREAS
IRAJ OSTAVAR, 389 E. Hersey Street, said he is representing David Young. Ostavar said Young is offering the City 2.5 acres of a five acre parcel to be earmarked for affordable housing. It is outside the Urban Growth Boundary with just a portion in the City.
MAYOR DEBOER told the Commission that he has been approached by the developers of Mountain Meadows and they have a plan for 85 lots in the area adjacent to Mountain Meadows. The developers would like to keep 12 lots and donate the remainder to the City for affordable housing. He has a meeting scheduled with the developers to discuss this further.
HOUSING COMMISSION VACANCIES
DeBoer said he has three applications to fill the Housing Commission vacancies. Legg noted that her term is up in April and she does not plan to ask for reappointment. DeBoer is concerned we are asking too much time of volunteers.
PARKING STRUCTURE UPDATE
McLaughlin said this item would be on the January Housing Commission agenda. Staff will bring suggestions for the RFP process or a hybrid (RFP/RFQ)
UPDATE OF NOWX2
McLaughlin reported that the NOWX2 went to the Council. Their recommendation is that Ashland is not proposing any additional growth areas. The recommendation is forwarded to the other regions for further discussion. We are still part of the NOWX2 process and will continue to be at the table.
HOUSING COORDINATOR POSITION
McLaughlin said they have received 40 applications and will be interviewing on January 12th. They have not set up the interview committee yet. Blackwolf suggested Kim Miller.
NEXT MEETING - The next meeting is January 28, 2004.
Mayor DeBoer said he would like to make the appointments to the Housing Commission by January 7th.
