Agenda Items
- Guest Lyn Godsey spoke about the ACSO and explained the focus of the organization is arts in education, with emphasis on placing artists in schools. ACSO received funding of approximately $27,500 from the Oregon Arts Council this past year. OAC has now lost its funding for the next biennium. Godsey also explained the history, structure and mission of the Oregon Cultural Trust.
- Bayard opened discussion about prioritizing the "to do" list of the commission. Bayard explained the pre-public art study group was formed because there was a lack of visual public art in the community. Dvora passed out a re-formatted list and expressed a desire to clarify what the focus of the group is. Kriegel stated that many felt that visual arts is the priority not the performing arts as there are numerous established performing arts groups in Ashland. Jackson believes the PACs primary purpose was to enhance and pursue the placement of public art in public spaces and that the focus is not bout promoting the arts in Ashland.
Action items
- Bayard to contact a facilitator to assist with the visioning process.
